Pacific Asset Management announces launch of new Emerging Market UCITS fund and boosts team with two senior hires, as Multi-Asset Range tops $120 million AUM since launching in January.
Pacific Asset Management (PAM), the asset management arm of Sir John Beckwith’s Pacific Investments Group, confirms that its new Emerging Markets Long Only UCITS fund will launch in November 2017 and also announces two further senior hires to strengthen its existing team.
Earlier this year, Pacific Asset Management became a partner in the boutique emerging markets equities manager, North of South Capital, founded by emerging market veteran investor Matt Linsey in 2004. The new Pacific EM fund, which will be called Pacific North of South EM All Cap Equity, will follow the same investment process that Matt Linsey and his team have successfully executed for many years. The GAM Star North of South fund, which North of South Capital sub-advised between July 2011 and June 2017, had a six year GIPS compliant track record which outperformed global emerging markets by over 400 basis points per annum.
PAM’s Multi-Asset range of funds has surpassed the $120 million AUM mark since its launch in January 2017. The funds blend active, passive and smart beta strategies.
PAM also announces the appointments of Paul McLernon as its Chief Operating Officer and Ben Sears as Head of UK Adviser Strategy.
Matthew Lamb, CEO of Pacific Asset Management said, “We have made significant progress since the Multi-Asset Funds launched in January, not only from an AUM perspective but also by continuing to build a flexible, robust infrastructure, supported by some of the most talented people in the industry. I am delighted that Paul and Ben are joining the business. Their arrival will help us to continue to focus on our primary goal of delivering outstanding investment solutions to our clients.”
Paul McLernon, who starts in early November comes from Pensato Capital LLP, the equity long/short manager, where he was COO and Equity Partner. Prior to joining Pensato, Paul spent 13 years at Goldman Sachs, where he was part of the Prime Brokerage and Equity Finance trading business.
Paul McLernon said, “On meeting Matthew and his experienced team, I have been immensely impressed with their vision and passion to build both a market leading product and an exceptional business. The team have made great progress in a short space of time and as the momentum gathers pace, I am thrilled to be asked by Matthew and the team to help develop the business with them.”
Ben Sears, who started in late September, joins from Shore Capital having previously worked alongside Matt Lamb for eight years at GAM. Ben will spearhead PAM’s expansion into the UK market.
