Investment philosophy

Maple-Brown Abbott’s three major investment principles:

1

Essential, Defensive Infrastructure

The team invest globally in listed infrastructure businesses that provide essential services and operate as physical network monopolies. Using a strict definition, with a focus on companies with low-volatility cashflows and inflation protection, creating a differentiated, defensive return profile, particularly in down markets.

2

Sustainable Long-Term Ownership

Infrastructure assets are long-term, privileged businesses that are socially responsible. The team embed ESG and sustainability into our investment process to manage risks and uncover opportunities, backing companies aligned with the energy transition and long-term environmental and social needs.

3

Structural Growth

The team target long-term infrastructure trends such as decarbonisation, electrification, and digitalisation. With a global infrastructure shortfall, our companies are positioned to play a critical role for decades. Strict capacity limits ensure high conviction, liquidity, and portfolio agility.
